Seventh Punch

[craftingrebel]

[For tonight's entertainment Maoh will be attempting to use Kanji's gear as a surf board! He toddles his way on over to the pool but before he's able to use the device as a floaty he slips on a tiny puddle and falls in instead. Unfortunately, as the gear is on the ground all the viewers can see is the sky above. Though-- if you listen carefully you can hear the Pichu's small, yet frantic splashing. However, as time goes on the splashing noises start to decrease.

A couple of minutes pass as a dark blur zooms by the gear and a big splash is heard a few seconds after. Up pops on the screen is a very wet, very out of breath, very disgruntled looking Kanji.]

D-Dammit Maoh. I--I told you to stay away from the pool.

[The small Pichu he has in his lap looks a bit lifeless. Though it may look bleak, Maoh is breathing. He pushes his damp bangs out of his face.]

S-Shit... I hope it's... not to late. I don't... I don't even know what to do. [by this point it looks like he's going to have a panic attack.] Those.... those c-centers would help, right? Shit why did this have to happen!?

Let's go!

[The Rapidash waits patiently for Kanji to be settled before she straightens with a determined neigh. At Merlin's gesture, both pokemon take off toward the Pokemon Centre.

With their speed, it takes very little time for them to arrive at their destination.]

[craftingrebel]

[HE'S RIDIN' A PONY. YEEE-HAW. -- I--I mean... <<;; yes, any--anyways. Once there he just about hops right off of the Rapidash and sprints to the door. He, however doesn't move further and just stares at the door. His hand twitches by his side.]

[dragonspeak]

What're you waiting for? [With both pokemon safely in their pokeballs again, Merlin walks up, surprised to see Kanji still standing there.]

[craftingrebel]

[Not really expecting to hear that, he jumps slightly. His face reddens some as he gulps. And with that he pulls the door open.] N-Nothin'! No--No reason!

[dragonspeak]

[Curious as he is, Merlin knows this isn't the time to ask--maybe once the Pichu is delivered safely into Nurse Joy's care.]

Let's hurry, then. [He claps a hand to Kanji's shoulder before they step in.] It'll be all right.

[craftingrebel]

[He frowns some. Gotta stay positive, gotta keep your head on. hhhhh]

Y-Yeah.

[dragonspeak]

[One last pat to the shoulder before Merlin leads the way over to the Nurse and quickly explains what happened.]

We should wait here, in case Nurse Joy needs to talk to you.

[craftingrebel]

[he nods.] Yeah... Sounds good.

[dragonspeak]

[After looking Kanji over, Merlin gently leads him over to a cluster of couches, pressing him down into one.] Stay here.

[A couple minutes later, he returns with a cup of tea.] Ran out of hot chocolate. Anyway, drink this--it'll make you feel better. [Puts Kanji's hands around the cup.]

[Not even realizing that he had been steered to the sitting area, he subconsciously sits down and stews over what the nurse had told him. Now is most definitely not the time to freak out over hospitals. By the time he looks up, Merlin is already in front of him giving him a cup of hot chocolate.]

[He takes the seat next to Kanji's, still watching him in concern.]

What's wrong? It looked like you were frozen outside there for a moment.

[craftingrebel]

I'm uhh.... [he pauses to collect himself.]

[dragonspeak]

[He gives Kanji's shoulder a reassuring pat, mindful of their cups.] It's all right. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to.

[craftingrebel]

N-No... it's... it's fine. You're my roommate. [And you need to know more about me anyways-- was what he wanted to get out but couldn't. He sighs.] I lost my old man when I was younger.

[dragonspeak]

Oh, Kanji... I’m sorry. [He gets it, he really does. For a second, he hesitates. Then his resolve hardens.] I...lost my father a few years ago, too.

[craftingrebel]

[his face softens some as he looks at Merlin.] Really? Man, I'm sorry...

[dragonspeak]

Yeah...just after I found him, too. [Shaky sigh.] What about you? Were you and your father close?

[craftingrebel]

Yeah, sorta-kinda. He and ma helped me get into sewing.

[dragonspeak]

He must've meant something to you if you still think about him. [and are still affected by his death.]

What else did he teach you?

[craftingrebel]

[he remains silent for a few more minutes before looking up.] Yeah... he sorta put me on track to find out what being a man means. I thought I figured it out? But I was able to finally understand what he meant after meeting senpai and the others...
